NASA Adopts the NetBeans Platform

Senior Staff Engineer at Sun Microsystems, recently spent some time with engineers at NASA, showing them how to use the NetBeans Platfom.
Below, he reflects on some of the interesting engineering needs that NASA has and how the NetBeans Platform is well suited to respond to these. During the interview, Tom Wheeler, one of the NetBeans Platform's several external contributors, talks about his participation in the course at NASA, too!

IBM developerWorks celebrates 10 years

With developerWorks, IBM sought to foster adherence to industry standards, company officials said. "Instead of building a developer portal that talked about DB2, we built a portal that talked about Java" and XML and Web services, said Dirk Nicol, IBM program director for emerging technology. He was the lead in setting up developerWorks, which has seen its traffic grow from 200,000 unique monthly visitors in 1999 to 4 million visitors per month now...
